After it was recently announced that Innsbruck Airport will be sending almost all employees back to short-time work as of October 1, 2020, Flughafen Wien AG announced that short-time work will be extended to January 31, 2021 for the time being.

During the main travel season, the number of passengers was around 25 percent of the same period in the previous year and the Executive Board is expecting a further decline in the coming months. Short-time working will now be extended for the entire company from October 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021. The management and the works council have already concluded an agreement on this.

“The numerous different travel regulations in many European countries are holding back international aviation completely. The number of passengers at Vienna Airport during the main travel season was around a quarter of the previous year and will continue to decline in the coming months. Due to the persistently poor passenger development, it is necessary to extend the short-time working for the entire company. We would like to thank all employees for their high level of commitment and their unbroken loyalty in this difficult phase for the company. " Works council worker, Thomas Faulhuber, stuck together.

The Vienna Airport Management Board also demands: “In order for aviation and tourism to get out of this crisis again, EU-wide uniform travel regulations and digital travel data management are urgently needed. The current proliferation of new travel restrictions and the mess of paper around passenger-related travel data must come to an end. "
