Due to the tightened entry requirements for arrivals from a total of 32 countries since Monday, Vienna Airport is extending the operating times of the fee-based PCR test station from August 1, 2020.
The Republic of Austria requires that persons from Egypt, Albania, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kosovo, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Turkey, Ukraine, the United States of America, Belarus and the province of Hubei (China) should submit a negative PCR test. Alternatively, this can be done within 48 hours at your own expense.
The test can be carried out in Office Park 190 at Vienna Airport at a price of 3 euros. The opening times will be extended from August 1, 2020 to 7:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. daily. The result should be sent to the customer by email within six hours. However, this no longer exempts you from the quarantine obligation, because when entering from the aforementioned countries, the PCR test must be submitted in addition to the isolation or completed within 48 hours.
Airport boss Günther Ofner hopes that this regulation can also lift flight bans. However, it is still unclear whether the authorities will do without it. The current regulation expires on July 31, 2020. It is currently likely that landing in Austria from the United Kingdom is permitted, as the UK has been removed from the red list and quarantine is no longer necessary.
