The low-cost airline Wizz Air carried around one million passengers to/from Vienna-Schwechat last year. According to their own statements, this was able to exceed the number of passengers before the corona pandemic.

Network-wide, Wizz Air Group had 45,7 million passengers. In a direct comparison with the year 2021, in which there were 27,1 million passengers, there was a significant increase. The value that the low coster had before the corona pandemic was exceeded by ten percent. In 2019, 41 million passengers used the offers of the Wizz Air Group. The fleet has meanwhile grown to 177 machines.

From Vienna-Schwechat, the destinations Nice and Pristina were particularly in demand last year. According to their own information, they offer 40 destinations in 24 countries from the largest airport in the Alpine republic. It is the third largest provider after Austrian Airlines and the Ryanair Group. In a press release, the company emphasizes that it intends to "accelerately expand" the range from Austria in the coming year.

The Vienna base has been open since December 2022 operated by Wizz Air Malta. 50 pilots and 160 flight attendants are employed on site. We are currently looking for more employees. On February 3, 2023 there will be another open applicant day.
