The low-cost airline Wizz Air has meanwhile released the destination Dubai announced from Vienna for booking. This will initially be offered temporarily in the 2022/23 winter timetable alongside the Abu Dhabi flights.

From November 2, 2022, the low-cost company will fly twice a week between Vienna and Dubai. The execution should take place on the traffic days Monday and Wednesday. In December 2022 it will be increased to three weekly circulations. The third rotation will start on December 16, 2022 and will be served on Fridays.

Passengers should exercise caution when booking Abu Dhabi and/or Dubai flights through Wizz Air's homepage. The carrier merges the two destinations in the booking system, but indicates small "lands in Dubai" or "lands in Abu Dhabi". Travelers should pay attention to this in order not to unintentionally book to the other airport.

In the days before changing the reservation system Wizz Air has also sold the current Dubai flights to/from Abu Dhabi. In the meantime, the ticket holders have been contacted by email and informed that they will not be flying to the capital of the United Arab Emirates, but to Dubai. The carrier claims that only a refund of the money or a transfer to another Wizz Air flight will be possible. This is untrue and not in accordance with the law. Travelers who have to or want to travel to Abu Dhabi on the originally booked dates should therefore insist on the replacement carriage with another airline to which they are entitled under the Air Passenger Rights Ordinance. The so-called 14-day period is irrelevant. This would only be relevant with regard to compensation payments.
