The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced a new route from Vienna-Schwechat with Chania. This is to be started on June 13, 2021 and initially operated twice a week.
“The Austrians finally want to travel again and enjoy a relaxing holiday on the beach. We therefore assume that demand will rise again in summer. With the exciting new destinations, of course always taking into account the current travel regulations, we offer cheap flights for relaxation in turbulent times ”, says András Rado, Senior Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
The carrier will therefore also compete directly with Ryanair on this route. The Irish lowcoster also has this route, operated by the subsidiary Lauda Europe, in its program. It remains to be seen whether this will have a positive effect on passengers in the form of a price war.
