Contrary to original announcements, the low-cost airline Wizz Air will not be flying to the British airports Luton and Gatwick from Vienna with the change to the 2022 summer flight schedule, but will concentrate on the latter airport.

In concrete terms, this means that the flight connection to London-Luton will be served for the last time on March 25, 2022. Machines from the British offshoot Wizz Air UK are currently used on this route. For this reason, the flights are sold under the "W9" code and not under "W6".

In return, frequencies on the Gatwick route operated by Wizz Air Hungary will be increased to two daily rotations. Vienna departures are on sale for 9:35 am and 17:30 pm. At 10:55 a.m. and 19:30 p.m., the second largest airport in the British capital leaves for Vienna-Schwechat.

One of the reasons behind the "relocation" of flights to Austria is that Wizz Air was able to secure further take-off and landing rights at London-Gatwick Airport. You have to use them, otherwise you would lose them. In addition to Vienna, connections to Athens, Bari, Catania, Faro, Milan-Malpensa, Naples, Rome-Fiumicino, Palermo and Venice will also be relocated to Gatwick. Burgas is also included.
