With the newly signed “Smart Air Service Development 2021-2025” agreement, WienTourismus and Vienna Airport have extended their cooperation with the aim of acquiring international long-haul connections.

Just in time for the travel season, the tourist information office at the airport reopened on July 1st after eight months. The direct accessibility of Vienna from large parts of the world was one of the advantages of the business and holiday destination Vienna before the Corona crisis. Vienna Airport and Vienna Tourist Board had already agreed in 2016 to jointly acquire routes, especially long-haul routes for Vienna. The now extended agreement 2021-2025 aims to reactivate connections that have been suspended by Corona and to inspire new airlines to head for Vienna.

“The corona crisis has severely restricted global air travel tourism, but an upswing is in sight. Many airlines have already resumed their connections to Vienna or are expanding their offers. Together with WienTourismus, we have successfully established Vienna as a top international destination for tourism and congresses in the past, and we want to continue this course in the future. Together we will do everything we can to bring even more airlines from all over the world back to Vienna! I am therefore very pleased about the extension of the cooperation, ”said Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.
