After Lufthansa and Air France-KLM, the US fund Indigo Partners is also in the running for the Italian airline ITA Airways. A corresponding expression of interest was sent at the end of February 2022.

Indigo Partners currently holds interests in the low-cost airlines Wizz Air, Jetsmart, Volaris and Frontier Airlines. The stake in the first-named carrier was significantly reduced in the previous year. The sale brought the investment company around 300 million pounds sterling into its coffers.

The local newspaper "La Repubblica" writes that IndiGo Partners should be interested in joining ITA Airways. It relies on unspecified sources from circles in the Italian government. The offer of the fund is considered interesting.

Currently interested Lufthansa – together with MSC - and Air France-KLM – jointly with Delta Air Lines – and Indigo Partners for a stake in Alitalia's successor ITA Airways. It is currently not foreseeable in which direction the Italian government is tending, but the fact that several financially strong groups are seriously interested should drive up the purchase price.
