The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has postponed the Salzburg comeback to the summer flight schedule of 2022. Most recently, St. Petersburg was announced for mid-December 2021, but once again nothing will come of it.

In the summer of the previous year, Wizz Air added the destination Salzburg to its route network at short notice. At that time a quite extensive route network was announced, but after a few flights they withdrew. The recordings of Kiev-Schuljany and St. Petersburg announced for September 2020 have not yet been made and are being pushed back at regular intervals.

The Balkan routes offered in the previous year have been completely taken out of the planning. These should no longer be reactivated. Varna should actually be served from June 2021, but a few days before the announced first flight, Wizz Air backed off and postponed the admission by a whole year. Kiev-Shulyany and St. Petersburg will be postponed by a few weeks or months at regular intervals.

This time, the Ukrainian capital has been announced for March 28, 2022 with two weekly rotations. St. Petersburg should now go from March 27, 2022, four times a week. Varna is announced with two weekly rotations from June 13th 2022. In view of the many postponements, it remains to be seen whether the new dates hold this time.

Wizz Air has currently not planned any flights to / from Salzburg for the winter flight schedule 2021/22. The carrier was recently said to be able to operate some ski routes from the United Kingdom. So far, however, Wizz Air UK has said that they have no corresponding plans for Salzburg.
