Wizz Air is introducing the so-called Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), a technical solution that will replace all printed manuals and materials on board with iPads for the pilots. The new system brings more efficiency to all aspects of flight planning.

As part of the new EFB system, every Wizz Air pilot will receive an iPad. The devices will be equipped with the relevant documents, map and performance applications needed to prepare for a flight. The low-coster is thus driving digitization further.

“The availability of recalculated flight plans before each flight and the optimization during the flight will save over 4.500 tons of fuel per year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by well over 14.000 tons. This weight corresponds to the equivalent of 180.000 80-kilogram passengers per year, which corresponds to the weight of 750 fully occupied 239-seat A321neo aircraft, ”the broadcast said.
