The low-cost airline Wizz Air has significantly thinned its offer for the first quarter of 2022. In a direct comparison with the end of November 2021, around 200 routes will be suspended, at least temporarily. Flights from the Austrian airport in Vienna and from German airports are also affected.

An analysis by "The Aero Network" comes to the conclusion that the pink low-cost airline has significantly taken capacity from sales for the first quarter of 2021. Around 200 routes are temporarily not served or, in the case of newcomers, not even included. In Vienna, for example, the latter applies to Amman and Akaba. Both Jordan routes were canceled at extremely short notice and postponed.

However, Wizz Air is also cutting back in the Balkan region, where it is traditionally particularly strong. Almost all airports in the route network are affected. In some cases, there will be a reduction in frequencies and some routes will be paused in the first quarter of 2022. The background to this is likely to be the unclear situation regarding the Omikron variant of the coronavirus, because other airlines are also reporting a noticeable decline in demand.

At the Vienna location, in addition to the already known non-recordings or pauses, the following destinations are sent: Cologne / Bonn, Dortmund, Eindhoven, Kharkiv, Larnaka, Nice, Nis, Palma de Mallorca, Podgorica, Stockholm-Skavsta, Thessaloniki, Tuzla and Varna. However, a small part is served at short notice between Christmas and New Years, for example Cologne / Bonn.

In detail, according to the analysis, the following routes are suspended:
