The low-cost airline Wizz Air wants to do as much business as possible in the remaining weeks of summer 2021. Company boss Jozsef Varadi announced that the capacity will be almost 100 percent of the 2019 value.

According to the Wizz Air CEO, the offer in August 2021 should be around "90 to 100 percent" of the level it had before the corona pandemic. He also expects that this will level off to 100 percent before Christmas or even be slightly above it.

Expressed in aircraft: Varadi expects that around 100 of the 140 aircraft will be in scheduled service in August. Most recently, Wizz Air had to close due to an acute shortage of staff help with wet-lease aircraft. A particularly large number of flight attendants left the company during the pandemic. Therefore one is still looking for personnel.

However, Jozsef Varadi also restricts: He does not dare to make a financial forecast for the year as a whole, because possible new travel restrictions could mean that the goal set by Christmas 2021 cannot be achieved. Depending on the further development of the pandemic and the related decisions by the government, the scenario of the previous year could repeat itself: Enormously strong slump over autumn and winter. Therefore, the latest announcements by the Wizz Air boss should be treated with caution, as the carrier is obviously planning the capacity primarily for the remaining summer weeks.
