In the previous year, the airlines made less money from the sale of flight tickets. However, if you look at the additional sales, low-cost airlines saw strong growth. As a result, Wizz Air made more money in the previous year than with tickets.

The current yearbook of Cartrawler deals with the so-called ancillary revenues. These play a particularly important role with low costers and increasingly network carriers are also discovering this income opportunity.

During the corona pandemic, Wizz Air was able to increase the share of additional revenues by 10,6 percentage points to 55,9 percent. According to Cartrawler, you are not only number one worldwide, but for the first time you have earned more money with ancillary revenues than with flight tickets. Only the US low-cost airline Spirit was able to achieve similar values. Wizz Air competitor Ryanair is behind in seventh place with an additional sales share of 36,7 percent.
