The low-cost airline Wizz Air wants to fly to destinations in India and Africa after the global travel restrictions have been relaxed. The Asian continent is also to play a special role in the expansion strategy.

Company boss Jozsef Varadi said in the course of an online conference that the carrier is no longer a purely European airline since the first flight of the Abu Dhabi subsidiary. New destinations in India, Africa and Asia would be the logical consequence. However, the timing of the route recordings primarily depends on the further development of the corona pandemic. Varadi described the planned expansion as a "logical step". Cities he has in focus were not named.

“We see India as a target market at this point in time. From the UAE's perspective, India is a huge market with a huge flow of passengers. If the question is whether we want to start the airline in India, I wouldn't say we have such an upcoming priority. We have no plans to enter India with an airline or establish an operational base, but we consider India a travel destination. We have expanded our fleet. We carried out 20 new aircraft deliveries within one year and we are planning to make another 12 deliveries in the next 27 months, ”says Varadi.
