Wizzair is bringing 15 new routes and three Airbus A320s to the Albanian capital Tirana. There are also new destinations in Germany and Switzerland.

The Hungarian low-cost airline opens a new base in the Albanian capital Tirana. The carrier will station three Airbus A2020s from July 320 and open a total of 15 new routes. Including Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden, Basel, Hamburg, Berlin-Schönefeld and Frankfurt-Hahn. Wizzair has been flying to Tirana since 2017.

“We are very pleased to welcome the establishment of Wizz Air's new base in Tirana. This means fair competition between airlines, more passengers once our borders are open, affordable ticket prices and travel options for people. After the difficult months of COVID-19, this news gives us back our optimism. With the experience we have gained in Tirana over the past few years with the provision of affordable fares but high quality services, we are confident that this new Wizz Air base in Tirana will bring more economic growth to the region - a signal that we all wish right now. Our goal is high standards, low ticket prices and the versatile opportunities to travel and explore the world. That is our mission in the end, because Tirana International Airport is about people, their plans and their will to travel and our contribution to making this project easy and pleasant for them ”.

Constantin von Alvensleben, CEO Tirana Airport.

The three Airbus A320 aircraft will be operating 15 new routes to Beauvais (Paris), Charleroi (Brussels), Eindhoven, Euroairport Basel Mulhouse, Karlsruhe / Baden Baden, Hamburg, Berlin Schönefeld, Frankfurt Hahn, Prague, Heraklion, Rhodes, Bari , Catania, Milan Malpensa and Turin, with a total of over 800.000 seats from Tirana in 2020. Tirana is Wizzair base number 30.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of our base in Tirana today. After three years of successful operation, we are committed to offering our Albanian customers more affordable travel while promoting the local tourism sector. Our long-term commitment in Albania by creating further connections to Tirana and the region will help to promote economic relations with other countries. The opening of our base and the provision of three modern, state-of-the-art aircraft is a step towards strengthening our long-term presence in Albania. We're excited to add fifteen new exciting routes today and adhere to the highest standards of our hygiene practices. We are confident that Wizz Air, with its extremely low fares and great route network, will make travel affordable for more and more passengers ”.
