A new airline will be launched in Iran under the name Yazd Air. According to official information, it is privately owned. The initiators want the project to cost the equivalent of 22 million US dollars.

In the previous week, a show flight was operated from Imam Khomeini International Airport to Yazd Sadooghi International Airport. The newly founded company has its first base at the latter airport. Among others, high-ranking government officials of the closed state took part in the event.

Initially, two aging Airbus A310s will be used for international flights to Najaf in Iraq, Dubai, Istanbul and Mumbai. Since the necessary aviation permits are not yet available, Mahan Air is to help out first. For the time being, the latter carrier is to fly on behalf of Yazd Air for two months. Then you want to carry out the flight operations on your own.

Other machines that you want to operate: A BAe 146 and two Embraer 145. These aircraft are to be used primarily domestically. The BAe 146 was used on the formal "first flight", which was staged as a local media event. Yazd Air also wants to buy an Airbus A319.

Due to international sanctions, it is almost impossible for Iranian airlines to obtain brand new aircraft from Western manufacturers. You almost always found what you were looking for on the used market, because the embargo of the United States of America has been circumvented for many years through intermediaries in various countries.
