Japan Airlines has certainly not imagined this in its worst nightmares: The cheap subsidiary Zipair carried out its first flight with only two passengers on board. The machine used, however, has 290 seats. There were definitely more crew members in the Boeing 787-8 with the registration JA825J.

The Narita-Seoul route has been in service for a few weeks, but no passengers have been taken so far. Due to the entry and quarantine regulations, these were pure freight routes that were served by Boeing 787-8. On Friday the time had come: The Japan Airlines offshoot Zipair carried out its first flight with passengers. There were many bookings, but only two passengers actually showed up at the gate at Tokyo Narita Airport. The distance rules could definitely be adhered to in the Dreamliner used without any problems.

Zipair is not deterred by this low capacity utilization of the premiere flight, but wants to even expand this route. Instead of one circulation per week, even two should be offered from October 25, 2020. The destinations Bangkok and Honolulu will be served with passengers on board at the beginning of next year at the earliest.
