The holiday airline Tuifly Belgium repeatedly has to make stopovers in Brussels on its Spain flights from Antwerp. The reason for this is that the take-off weight of the Embraer 190 machines has to be reduced under certain weather conditions.
A company spokesman explains that due to the short runway in wet conditions in Antwerp, less fuel is consumed. Instead, you refuel at Brussels Airport. This can occur when the aircraft is full and passengers have a lot of luggage. Since July 2023, however, this has only happened five times.
