Star Alliance member Ethiopian Airlines is extending the existing connection between Addis Ababa and Milan-Malpensa to Zurich-Kloten from October 31, 2022. For the time being, direct flights between Switzerland and Ethiopia will be offered on three operating days.
Again and again, the terms "non-stop flight" and "direct flight" are misinterpreted, although the definition is very clear: Non-stop means that you fly from A to B without a stopover. In the case of a direct flight, on the other hand, there can be any number of stops, provided the flight number remains the same. Especially in summer, holiday passengers are always surprised when their direct flight has a stopover.
Ethiopian Airlines will extend the route pair ET736/ET737 to Zurich on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is currently planned that the following route should be flown: Addis Ababa-Milan (Malpensa)-Zurich-Milan (Malpensa)-Addis Ababa. It is also planned that passengers will be transported on the inner-European section within the framework of the fifth freedom. As a rule, Boeing 787-9s are used.
Malpensa will continue to be served seven times a week. According to the current planning status, there will be no "extension" to Switzerland on the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday traffic days.
