A former Kapers union, representing the Swiss cabin crew, was arrested by order of the Zurich public prosecutor. The official, whose identity has not been made public, is accused of embezzlement. It is the presumption of innocence.

The investigations appear to have been extremely time-consuming, as the cantonal police and public prosecutor's office investigated for several months before sufficient evidence was obtained to be able to obtain an arrest warrant. In February 2023, the handcuffs clicked for the former trade unionist and on April 11, 2023 he was brought to justice.

Kapers President Sandrine Nikolic-Fuss told the “Paddle Your Own Kanoo” portal, which specializes in crew issues, that the board noticed the alleged “financial irregularities” after the former trade unionist had resigned from office in the summer of 2022. After consultation with the colleagues on the board, a law firm was commissioned to conduct an internal investigation, and since they are said to have found what they were looking for, a criminal complaint was subsequently filed with the Zurich public prosecutor's office.

The exact sum that was embezzled was not communicated by the investigating authorities. Kapers assumes that it should be around 500.000 Swiss francs. The identity of the alleged perpetrator is kept as anonymous as possible by the authorities. The portal "Paddle Your Own Kanoo" claims without naming any sources that it is said to be a former "Cabin Crew Union Chief". However, this does not mean a former president.
