From February 2023, the holiday airline Edelweiss Air will add two destinations in Jordan, Amman and Akaba, to its route network. These are offered on the traffic days Thursday and Sunday.

Edelweiss will first fly from Zurich to Amman, where there will be a stopover for boarding and disembarking. Then it's on to Aqaba and from there back to the Swiss business metropolis. These are so-called direct flights, which, in contrast to non-stop flights, may have any number of stopovers.

According to Edelweiss, the two destinations can be combined. This is intended to enable passengers to travel around Jordan. Aqaba is about a four-hour drive from the capital, Amman. The city on the Red Sea is the Jordanian neighboring city of Eilat, but crossing the border from Jordan to Israel (and vice versa) is associated with high costs.
