Around 20 years after the crash of an Egyptian Flash Airlines Boeing 737 off Sharm el Sheikh, the former company boss could be brought to justice in France.

On January 3, 2024, the Boeing 737-300 with the registration SU-ZCF crashed into the Red Sea shortly after takeoff. The 135 passengers and crew members died. The cause of the accident could never be clarified beyond doubt.

The Paris public prosecutor's office has requested that the now 70-year-old former managing director be charged with manslaughter. According to the AFP agency, around 500 relatives have joined as private participants. An examining judge must now decide whether there will be a criminal trial or not.
