The Austro Control air traffic control also prepared for a loss in 2021. This will now be higher than planned.

Because thousands of aircraft are still standing still worldwide due to the CoV crisis. Originally, Austro Control expected a traffic volume of 50 percent of the pre-crisis level. However, the forecasts have not come true, in fact, air traffic is currently at a significantly worse level than previously estimated. Therefore, votes from supervisory board circles would assume that the actual loss will be beyond the budgeted 20 million. The minus should rather move in the direction of the previous year's loss of 70 million euros.

For this reason, the screws on the austerity package are being retightened. The savings and restructuring would have to be sustainable and long-term. The "Heading 030" strategy concept provides for the quick implementation of the recommendations of the Court of Auditors. Technical and administrative staff, among other things, would have to expect losses. Your salary level would already be 30 to 40 percent above the comparable income in the federal service, it says in the Courier. For the approximately 400 air traffic controllers, the age limit for the transitional pension is to be raised towards the age of 60 - currently the company pays the air traffic controller aged 55 and over a pension transition of up to 75 percent of the last gross salary.

In addition, unnecessary overtime is to be reduced and the high drop-out rate for the three-year training course for junior pilots is to be scaled down. This would be almost 40 percent. To ensure that these savings goals are actually implemented, the Supervisory Board decided to take action and give ACG managing director Valerie Hackl the right to direct. This grants the former ÖBB manager the right to bring about a decision in the event of a tie. “We will continue to manage the crisis on our own and continue to work on the stabilization course. The employees have shown in the past few months that they are ready to do their part, ”says Hackl confidently.
