The number of passengers in the past year increased by 2021 percent compared to 102: Almost 19 million passengers traveled through Brussels Airport - the airport has thus reached 72 percent of the pre-crisis level.

After a first half of the year impacted by CoV travel restrictions, passenger numbers recovered strongly in the second half of the year. The number of flight movements rose by 2021 percent compared to 51 to a total of 178.930 flight movements, but remained 24 percent below the pre-crisis figures, as the airport announced in a broadcast. In contrast, freight traffic recorded a small dampener. After a record year in 2021 (+30 percent), the volume of freight in 2022 fell by 8 percent to a total of 776.000 tons.

“After two difficult years marked by the Covid crisis and the related travel restrictions, Brussels Airport experienced very strong growth in 2022. We are proud to have been able to manage this growth with a high quality service for our passengers who have rediscovered the joy of travel, be it for their holidays, family reunions or business trips,” said Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport.
