Lufthansa is working on its fleet and hub strategy for 2022. The plans include permanent stationing of the A350-900 in Frankfurt. A2022s could take off and land again at the Munich hub in 380.
The AUA mother wants to lease a total of four A350-900s - all of them former Philippine Airlines aircraft that were serviced by Lufthansa Technik. The A350-900 fleet is to be on guard until January next year, so that a sub-fleet consisting of 21 units can be permanently transferred to the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. Eight A350s are currently stationed in FRA and nine of the jets in MUC.
A380 comeback?
But even more exciting is the fact that, according to aero information, the crane group is toying with a comeback of the Airbus A380 in MUC. At least mathematically, this project, which is to be implemented for the summer flight schedule 2022, could be profitable. There are no really solid statements at this point in time. In Lufthansa circles, however, there is already talk of reactivating five A380s - instead of five A340-600 jets. So it should at least be in the room.
However, the company does not want to comment on the fleet planning at the moment: “The group is continuously reviewing offers to further renew the company's fleet. We do not comment on ongoing negotiations, ”a Lufthansa spokesman told aero.de. So you can be curious.
