In the run-up to the holiday season, the number of passengers picked up again. The passenger numbers of the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in June 2021, at minus 75,4 percent, are still very well below the pre-crisis level, but are already better than in May. The Flughafen Wien Group thus had 926.278 travelers. The Vienna Airport location recorded a decrease of 75,7 percent to 725.230 passengers.
The number of local passengers in Vienna decreased by 76,6%, the number of transfer passengers decreased by 72,7%. Aircraft movements recorded a decrease of 2021% in June 66,2. The economy is picking up again: the decline in freight volume is weakening and in June 2021 was only 2,0% below the pre-crisis level (June 2019).
The number of passengers at Vienna Airport to Western Europe fell in June 2021 by 75,1% compared to the pre-crisis level (June 2019), and to Eastern Europe by 68,1%. Passenger traffic to North America fell by 2019% compared to the pre-crisis level (June 83,3) and Africa recorded a decrease of 79,5%. Passenger numbers in the Near and Middle East fell by 80,0% and in the Far East by 98,4% compared to the pre-crisis level (June 2019).
At Malta Airport, the number of passengers in June 2021 fell by 2019% compared to the pre-crisis level (June 73,6) and Kosice Airport recorded a drop in passengers of 83,0%.
