The probability that the Indian airline Jet Airways will ever take off commercially again has fallen sharply again. According to the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, the AOC expired on May 19, 2023 and was not renewed.
Local media reports that several managers have already left the company. Among these should also be Sanjiv Kapoor, who was intended as CEO. He resigned on May 1, 2023. The Jalan Kalrock Consortium, which bought Jet Airways out of bankruptcy, said it was still on track.
Most recently, the Boeing 737-800 with the registration VT-SXE was entered on the AOC of the former carrier. However, apart from a few test flights conducted in August 2022, the aircraft has not been moved. The medium-haul jet was never used commercially. It is unlikely that this will ever happen, since the AOC and operating license have now expired.
Although reactivation is possible in principle, a new application process would have to be completed. This takes a lot of time in particular. It was only in March 2023 that there were rumors that Jet Airways could place a bulk order. In view of the fact that one is no longer formally an airline, this issue should have taken care of itself.
