The Kazakh airline Air Astana has announced that it will expand its fleet to 2028 aircraft by 80. This would mean continuing the growth path that we have embarked on in recent years.

The fleet currently consists of 50 aircraft. The group wants to put 2026 new aircraft into service by 22. The aim is to operate exclusively with Airbus A320neo, A321neo, A321LR and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Along with the expansion of the fleet, the Air Astana Group network is also being gradually expanded. In 2023, Air Astana and FlyArystan have added various new routes, including to Delhi and Mumbai (both India), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Urumqi (China), Baku (Azerbaijan), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Kutaisi (Georgia), Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Ankara (Turkey).

Kazakhstan and Central Asia are among the most dynamically growing regions in global air traffic. According to estimates by the international airline association IATA, in Kazakhstan alone the number of passengers will rise rapidly from around 13,1 million in 2022 to 24,2 million in 2027. The infrastructure in the country is also being expanded accordingly. In the summer of 2024, a completely new international terminal will open at the airport in the economic metropolis of Almaty, which the Air Astana Group will then also use.
