ARBÖ warns of many traffic jams at the weekend

According to ARBÖ, the coming weekend will require a lot of patience from road users. The reasons for this are the start of the Easter holidays in three German federal states, “Masters of Dirt” in Vienna, numerous trade fairs in Innsbruck, Salzburg, Linz and Vienna as well as excursion traffic to the ski areas.

The two-week Easter holidays start next weekend in the German states of Bremen, Hamburg and Lower Saxony. Some of the approximately 1,4 million students will spend their holidays in Austria. Added to this is the traffic from day and weekend skiers. The ARBÖ traffic experts therefore expect traffic jams and long delays on the transit routes and the arrival and departure routes to the ski areas in the west, especially on Saturday.

In Vorarlberg, a lot of patience will be required from morning to mid-morning, especially on the Rhine Valley Motorway (A14) in the greater Bludenz area, on Silvretta Strasse (L188) in Montafon and on Bregenzerwaldstrasse (L200).

In Tyrol, according to the ARBÖ's experience, on the Inntalautobahn (A12) before the Imst/Pitztal, Haiming/Ötztal and Wiesing/Zillertal exits as well as the Kufstein/Kiefersfelden border crossing, on the Achensee Straße (B181) before the entrance to the Zillertal and on the Zillertal Straße (B169) can expect kilometer-long traffic jams.

A similar picture will almost certainly appear in sections on the Ötztalstrasse (B186), the Reschenstrasse (B180) and on the Fernpass route (B179) until the early afternoon. “Block clearance in front of the Brettfall tunnel on the B169 seems to be just as safe as in front of the Vils/Füssen border tunnel and the Lermooser tunnel on the B179,” said the ARBÖ traffic experts.

The longest traffic jams on Saturday will be on the Tauernautobahn (A10) in Salzburg. The construction site between Golling andwerfen regularly creates kilometer-long metal columns on travel Saturdays. In Styria, drivers have to plan the most time on the Ennstalstrasse (B320) in the Schladming and Liezen areas and on the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) in the construction site area between Trieben and Rottenmann.

“If you want to avoid traffic jams, you should pay attention to the entry and exit closures on the Tauern Autobahn and the winter driving ban in Tyrol. Of course, the so-called destination and source traffic are excluded here,” say the ARBÖ traffic experts.
