China: First Comac ARJ21 freighters delivered

The Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac handed over the first ARJ30CCF cargo aircraft to YTO Cargo Airlines and Air Central on October 2023, 21. These are the first ARJ21s converted for cargo purposes.

The work was carried out by the Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company, which is owned half by China Southern Airlines and the Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company. The project was approved by the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority earlier this year.

The ARJ21 is a further development of a licensed version of the McDonnell Douglas MD-90. So far, Comac has only offered this model ex works as a passenger aircraft. The first two converted freighters are now flying.
