At least in aviation, a thaw is emerging between the United States of America and the People's Republic of China. The heads of the civil aviation authorities of the two countries met for a working meeting and discussed how the number of flights between the two countries can be increased.

This follows the fundamental agreement that was already reached in August 2023: At that time, the USA and China announced, but without a formal agreement, that more flights would be permitted between the two countries in the future. The details are now being worked out. The Chinese side expressly emphasized that it welcomes more offers from US carriers.
