There have reportedly been repeated attacks on Syria's Damascus airport in recent days. This was only put back into operation on Saturday after a closure of around a month.

According to government sources, the runways were damaged beyond use a few weeks ago by air strikes said to have been carried out by Israel's armed forces. In the meantime, it has been renovated, but it is now said to have been damaged again, meaning that Damascus Airport cannot continue to be used.

Israel has repeatedly attacked targets in Syria in the past. The background is that it is suspected that there are transshipment points for weapons that are intended, among others, for Hezbollah and Hamas. The supplier is said to be Iran. The Armed Forces of Israel have not commented on the latest attack, which is claimed by Syria.
