A total of 786 flight cancellations between December 28, 2023 and December 29, 2024 have brought Cathay Pacific an investigation by the Civil Aviation Authority of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

According to local media reports, the aviation company has already admitted that it had made massive planning errors. The actual need for pilots and flight attendants was misjudged. This meant that many flights could not be operated due to an acute shortage of personnel.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China's Special Administrative Region has already announced that it has opened an investigation and called on Cathay Pacific to take measures to get the situation under control. The company has already presented a catalog of measures, which is now being examined by the office.
