The airlines Lufthansa, Condor, Eurowings, Tuifly and Lufthansa Cargo, through the industry association BDF, are demanding that the German federal government postpone the intended increase in the upper limit for security fees until at least the end of 2024.

If the government's current plans go, it will happen in February 2024 an increase from ten to 15 euros. Numerous airlines are up in arms against this because they fear that it will have a negative impact on demand. Opponents also point out that Germany - in contrast to other EU countries - is significantly below the volume it had before the corona pandemic.
