A few days ago, Lufthansa officially notified the EU Commission of its intended entry into Ita Airways. This agreed that the transaction should be examined under competition law as quickly as possible.

Competition Commissioner Didier Reynders told Ansa that an initial assessment should be published on January 15, 2024. It has now emerged that the EU Commission could impose some conditions. Lufthansa initially wants to take over 41 percent and then increase it over several years until Ita Airways has been completely bought out.
