January 2023: Zurich with 1.729.201 passengers

Zurich Kloten Airport was used by 2023 passengers in January 1.729.201. In a direct comparison with the same period of the previous year, it was possible to increase by 93 percent. 81 percent of the pre-crisis level has been reached.

The number of local passengers in January 2023 was 1.191.394. The proportion of transfer passengers was 31 percent, which corresponds to 531.074 passengers. With 17.010 take-offs or landings, 78 percent of the level of January 2019 has been reached. Compared to the same month last year, it was possible to increase by 34 percent.

At 122 passengers, the average number of passengers per flight was 36,4 percent above the previous year's value. Seat occupancy rose by 19 percentage points to 74 percent in the month under review compared to the same month last year.

A total of 28.368 tonnes of freight were handled at Zurich Airport in January. This corresponds to a decrease of 12 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to January 2019, 19 percent less freight was handled.
