Bucharest in Romania was the city with the cheapest rental car offers this year, according to the data analysis. Here, drivers can rent a car for just 13 euros per day. Bucharest is an excellent starting point for a road trip through Romania with its medieval villages, Gothic castles and the impressive Carpathians.

The biggest holiday excitement

Even in the most wonderful time of the year - on vacation - there are a few upsets for some: the biggest annoyances during the holidays for German travelers this year were, in first place, excessive complaints from other vacationers, followed by the use of loudspeakers public places and a know-it-all travel companion.

Friederike Burge, trend expert at Skyscanner, explains: “Looking back at the past travel year shows that Germans are taking advantage of the freedom of international travel despite the increased cost of living. We see how this traveler behavior correlates with emerging trends for 2024. Our latest 2024 travel trends report highlights that value for money will continue to play an important role, but travelers don't necessarily want to miss out on things like cultural experiences, but simply want to be smarter with their budget.”

“Next year, German travelers will continue to focus on long-haul trips. Krabi in Thailand, for example, recorded an increase in search queries of more than 400 percent, making it a trendy travel destination. The Spanish city of Seville, on the other hand, is attracting with a 22 percent drop in flight prices, which could also encourage many travelers to vacation there.”
