October 2023: Zurich reaches 99,9 percent pre-crisis volume

Zurich-Kloten Airport was used by a total of 2023 passengers in October 2.867.694. Compared to the same month last year, there was an increase of 19 percent. 99,9 percent of the pre-crisis volume was achieved. 

The number of local passengers was 2023 in October 2.087.028. The proportion of transfer passengers was 27%, which corresponds to 775.190 passengers. With 110.148 travelers, Sunday, October 8th, set a new daily record since the outbreak of the corona pandemic.  

The number of flight movements rose by 11% compared to the same month last year to 23.400 take-offs or landings. The monthly comparison shows that flight movements are 97% of the 2019 level. The average number of passengers per flight was 139 passengers, 3% higher than the previous year. Seat occupancy in the reporting month was 82%, as in the same month last year.  

A total of 33.613 tons of freight were handled at Zurich Airport in October. This corresponds to a decrease of 7% compared to the same month last year. Compared to October 2019, 13% less freight was handled.
