The Pakistani government wants to accelerate the sale of Pakistan International Airlines. You don't really do this voluntarily, but there is considerable pressure from the International Monetary Fund.

Within a few hours, the new government pushed the plan for gradual privatization through the committees. There should also be changes on the board of the state-owned company. Background: Pakistan has received loans from the IMF. The terms of the contract also include the privatization of PIA. Now there is a particular hurry because the last tranche of the three billion US dollar loan is due to be paid out in April 2024. Apparently they don't want to endanger this.
