The Ryanair Group has expanded an existing agreement with the Austrian oil company OMV to purchase SAF by a further 500 tonnes.

This agreement will save a further 1.250+ tonnes of CO2 emissions (equivalent to around 100 Ryanair flights from Dublin to Vienna). As part of the MOU agreement between Ryanair and OMV, Ryanair has the one-time right to purchase up to 2030 tonnes of SAF from OMV by 160.000.

“We are pleased that this year we will be able to purchase a further 500 tonnes of SAF from OMV in addition to the 500 tonnes we agreed in October last year. SAF plays a key role in our “Pathway to Net Zero” decarbonization strategy, in which we are committed to increasing the use of SAF in the coming years – a commitment that is further advanced by this contract with OMV. OMV is an important partner for Ryanair in Austria, Germany and Romania, and we look forward to expanding this partnership as Europe’s largest airline group,” said Tom Fowler, Director of Sustainability at Ryanair.
