The low-cost airline Ryanair hopes that Lufthansa's planned takeover of Ita Airways will allow it to gain more take-off and landing rights at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

CEO Michael O'Leary also said during a press conference that the group of companies he leads is "rather less interested" in slots in Milan-Linate. This airport is currently not in the route network. Some time ago you have obtained take-off and landing rights in Linate, but then returned again. Ryanair flies to Bergamo and Malpensa airports in this region. In Rome there is a presence in both Ciampino and Fiumicino.
