September 2023: Zurich had 2.818.696 passengers

Zurich-Kloten Airport had a total of 2023 passengers in September 2.818.696. Compared to the same month last year, there was an increase of 21 percent and was therefore two percent below the pre-crisis volume.

The proportion of people transferring was 30 percent, which corresponds to 856.474 travelers. The number of local passengers is given as 1.956.515 passengers. Flight movements increased by 13 percent compared to the same month last year and amounted to 23.310 take-offs and landings.

The average number of passengers per flight was 140, 5% higher than the previous year. Seat occupancy increased by 1 percentage point to 83% in the reporting month compared to the same month last year. A total of 30.632 tons of freight were handled at Zurich Airport in September. This corresponds to a decrease of 7% compared to the same month last year. Compared to September 2019, 16% less freight was handled.
