Spain with new records for passengers and overnight stays

In 2023, Spain will have more overnight stays than ever before. According to the state statistics office, overnight stays increased by 8,4 percent to 347,1 million - a new record.

The previous high, which was achieved in 2019, was exceeded by 1,2 percent. On average, 112,90 euros were paid per night and room. Compared to the value for 2022, this means an increase of 8,5 percent.

Foreign guests accounted for 225 million overnight stays, 12,6 percent more than in the previous period. UK residents account for 58 million overnight stays and Germans account for 40 million overnight stays.

The new record is also evident in aviation, as the vast majority of holidaymakers arrived by plane. In total, Spain had 95 million arriving passengers, 0,5 million more passengers than in the record year of 2019. The figure for the previous period was even exceeded by 18 percent.
