Tyrol remains a popular travel destination in the 2023/24 winter season, despite difficult weather conditions and inflation. According to a preliminary balance, domestic tourism recorded an increase in arrivals, overnight stays and added value after five out of six months of the current winter season.

In the months November to March, which account for over 90 percent of the total winter overnight stays, 24,4 million overnight stays were recorded, an increase of 4,8 percent compared to the previous year. Arrivals rose 7,6 percent to 5,5 million. Despite the postponement of Easter to March and a leap day in February, developments remained positive.

The value added in the winter season is estimated at 3,76 billion euros, an increase of 1,5 percent adjusted for inflation compared to the previous year. The German market in particular contributed to this growth, with an increase of 7,4 percent in overnight stays. Guests from other countries such as the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain also contributed to the positive result.

There is confidence in the Tyrolean tourism industry for the coming summer. The booking situation for accommodation companies is positive, and demand from Germany is particularly promising. A new price and booking monitoring enables daily forecasts of occupancy and prices to support efficient price management and increase added value.
