Trade unions: Joachim Vázquez Bürger is the new UFO chairman

The flight attendant union UFO has a new chairman, Joachim Vázquez Bürger. He succeeds Daniel Kassa Mbuambi, who announced his retirement a few weeks ago. 

“My thanks go to Daniel Kassa Mbuambi, who took over a crisis-ridden UFO in order to steer it back into calmer waters with his level-headed manner. We wish him all the best for his new professional path,” said Joachim Vázquez Bürger, UFO chairman. 

The former Bundeswehr officer Vázquez Bürger is a flight attendant at the Lufthansa subsidiary CityLine and a trained aviation clerk. He was elected to the acting board in April 2021 and had previously been responsible for the Politics & Foreign Relations department. With him, an experienced collective bargaining expert will take over the leadership of the union, who has repeatedly demonstrated his strategic insight into the major political issues in air transport.
