Austrian Airlines will no longer fly to the Danish destination Billund from the start of the 2024 summer flight schedule period.

The carrier will discontinue the Denmark route offered from Vienna-Schwechat, which was only started last year. There is currently fierce competition on this route with competitor Ryanair. When asked, the low-cost airline explained that it was pleased with Austrian Airlines' withdrawal and would continue to serve Vienna-Billund.

“Our flight program is continually evaluated and optimized by our network planning experts. After careful examination, it was determined that demand on the route from Vienna to Billund had not reached the level required to maintain service. It is clear that as a commercial enterprise we have to deploy our capacities where demand justifies appropriate service. We thank our guests for their understanding,” an AUA spokeswoman explains to Aviation.Direct.
