After the record sales year of 2023, the tourism season for Vienna is off to a very good start this year: at Easter, the first big travel weekend for city tourists every year, the hotels are already very well booked, and the first hotels are already reporting a booking level of over 90 percent. And the prospects for the long weekends in May are also very good.

“The entire coming week is very well booked, and Vienna will be full again on the Easter weekend itself,” says Dominic Schmid, chairman of the hotel industry specialist group at the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. The Easter markets, which have developed into visitor magnets, also contribute to this, as he knows: “The Easter markets are becoming increasingly popular internationally, Easter in Vienna has – similar to Advent in Vienna – developed into a brand.”

Looking further into the future is also positive. “The long weekends in May in particular are looking very good in terms of bookings, and there is also the start of the congress season,” says Schmid, who is also satisfied with the prices achieved for reservations: “The average prices for the rooms have not fallen “This is particularly important given the increased costs, for example for energy and personnel.”
