Airport is planning extensive construction work to reduce runway crossings and improve safety by re-rolling runway 10-28.

Over 100.000 aircraft cross runway 10-28 at Zurich Airport every year, raising safety concerns. To address this problem, the airport operator submitted a concept for a “rollover” of the runway, which has now been approved by the Swiss Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

However, the implementation of this project will require extensive construction work, including the demolition of general and business aviation buildings and the creation of new moorland areas. It is planned that the project will be completed by 2028.
