Periodic measurement flights to check the navigation systems will be carried out at Zurich-Kloten Airport from March 13 to 18, 2023 and May 1 to 6, 2023. These take place both in the afternoon and sometimes at night.

In addition, the measuring aircraft will already check the navigation of departure routes during the day between March 6th and 8th. Periodic testing ensures the accuracy of the navigation systems. This requires approaches that start to the side, above and below the published flight path. For this reason, the measurement flights are sometimes carried out off the usual flight routes. During a survey, the respective flight route is approached several times. The signals sent by the corresponding navigation systems are recorded and evaluated. In addition, the navigation of new departure routes from runway 6 will be checked during the day between March 8th and 10th. For this purpose, the relevant departure procedures are carried out several times.

The measurement flights are carried out with a twin-engined Beechcraft King Air 350 propeller aircraft. The machine has the latest navigation aids and a high-precision flight inspection device. Skyguide air traffic control is responsible for planning and operating the flights.
