Iceland's air traffic control wants to join Eurocontrol with effect from January 1, 2025. Participation in the activities of the European organization is currently limited.

Iceland wants to become a full member of Eurocontrol on January 1, 2025. In preparation for this, participants will participate in various working groups as observers. Eurocontrol Director General Eamonn Brennan welcomes the accession and explains, among other things, that Iceland is a destination that is enjoying rapidly increasing demand.

Currently, 41 European countries belong to the organization. Accession means that 42 countries will participate. This has some strategic advantages for Eurocontrol. Brennan believes this will lead to operational improvements for airlines as well.
